Let me Personally Invite You to Spend Three Days with Me
Packed with Fun and Valuable Education
Im talking about my Herb Walk.
This is more than a class, its an adventure!
Not only will you learn to identify a lot of plants and learn what theyre used for, youll also acquire skills in basic plant botany and identification, reading a plants signatures. You'll even learn how to talk to a plant and ask it what its for. Youll get to do this in a wide variety of habitats from the deserts to the canyons to the mountain tops.
Plus, youll have opportunities to learn from me in very one-on-one way because this program is limited to only 12 people. Thats right. Im only accepting 12 students because I want to give everyone the personal attention they deserve.
And, thats not all. Youll also get to experience some of the fabulous scenery and attractions that make Southern Utah a vacation spot that attracts visitors from all over the world. This is an educational vacation.
Here's what some of our last year's students had to say about this event.
| Thanks for one of the most enjoyable getaways I would never have done on my own. Tho the weather was warm, the company was too and the information was almost overwhelming but so informative. I have always been in awe at Steven's knowledge, but to get together in a small group and now know you as a teacher and friend was awesome. Sharing your home and lifestyle with your sons was great. I will never look at plants along the roadside or anywhere I go with just a passing glance again, but thoughts will be triggered about what family they are from, what they might be useful for, why they grow where they do, and just appreciate God's creations and power. With knowledge, we are given the power to help others, too. All the activities were so enjoyable and Steven's delight in life and being able to teach and help others is so evident. Thank you for a wonderful event in every way. Cindy Larsen

| I signed up for the herb walk to enjoy time with a friend and came away with so much more. Not only was my time with my friend outstanding, but I made new friends, enjoyed the awsome Zion Park and walking the river was an experience that I will never forget! As an end to the walk, we enjoyed "My Fair Lady" in an outdoor theater under a clear star filled sky. And if that was not enough I was able to view plants in their natural environments, leaned the medicinal properties and how to use them. It was a great experience that I would do again. Steven and his sons were great! Donna Marie Reynolds

| I had the most amazing time doing the Herb Walk with Steven. It was a spiritual experience for me, getting in tune with nature and all it has to offer. I am sorry we didn't get to do the summer solstice at Parowen Gap but except for that I had a phenomenal time. I loved spending time at Steven house making the flower essence, tincture and glycerite, but I do wish Steven would have printed instructions on how to do this as it was a bit confusing as to how many times you kept diluting the flower essence. Thank you Steven for one of my great adventures in life. By the way, I loved your "J. Golden" stories and you do them so well! Gina Leitz

The minute I saw this class advertised I knew I needed to be there. I rate this in my top two educational vacations ever taken. The information presented was easy to understand and very useful, the "classroom(s)" were absolutely the most beautiful I have ever been in, and the instructor provided a very fun atmosphere. Since I have returned home I find myself driving to any out of the way place just to stop and look for plants that I can now identify. In fact, I have also begun leaving some of the "weeds" in my vegetable garden. Not only because I know see their beauty but because they are good to eat. Anyone interested in reacquainting themselves with their environment or learning to live from/with the land should take this class.Beth Faber

I never realized that so many medicinal plants could be all together in one small area! Steven is a very knowlegable and fun guide. Once you hike up the narrows you will want to return year after year. Don't miss this information packed, spiritual and exhilerating adventure! Janet DeVoogd

Youll enjoy a free breaksfast buffet at the hotel
- 9:00 am. We pick you up at the hotel and provide transportation for you for all three days.
- 9:00-9:45 Well be traveling up scenic I-15, past Leeds (where Steven lives), to the Kolob Canyon area of Zion National Park

- 10:30-12:30 Well leave Kolob Canyon and travel to Cedar City, then we'll head up Cedar Canyon. We'll stop at a picnic grounds and look at a variety of plants in the area. Last year we saw aspen, white fir, wild geranium, wild mint, valerian, wild strawberries and many more.
12:30-1:30 We'll have lunch at the picnic area (all food will be supplied)
- 1:30-4:30 After lunch well continue up Cedar Canyon stopping at Zion Overlook for a "top of the world" view. Then, well visit Cedar Breaks, a breath-taking natural wonder similar to Bryce Canyon National Park. There we will see Bristlecone Pines that are thousands of years old along with other high mountain plants like heart-leafed arnica.
When my sons and I went to this area last July the wildflowers were amazing.
To learn more about Cedar Breaks check out: Cedar Breaks
After visiting Cedar Breaks well go past Brian Head Ski Resort and down Parowon Canyon to Parowon. We'll probably make one or two stops along the way looking at various plants.
- 4:30-5:30 Travel back to the hotel.

- 8:30-3:00 Well be spending the day in Zion Canyon. Well provide water, food and snacks for everyone for the day.
Zion Canyon is one of the most amazing natural wonders on the planet. To me, Zion Canyon is like a sacred place. The feeling of grandure and wonder in the canyon makes it feel like an outdoor temple. We'll baord the Zion Shuttle and travel to the top of the Canyon. There, we will follow the River Walk to the opening of the narrows. The river walk is a fairly level and pathed trail, two miles round trip. For those who want to, well hike part way up the narrows, which begins at the end of the riverwalk. Hiking the narrows involves walking through the river because the canyon narrows to just the width of the river. Youll need shoes you dont mind getting wet (and some extra pairs of socks). A walking stick is helpful, too. This is an amazing experience! Our ability to do this depends on the weather. If it is raining or there is danger of rain we will skip hiking the narrows and go to other parts of the canyon because it is too dangerous to hike the narrows when there is rain.
We may also go to weeping rock, a short (1/4 mile) walk with some great plants to see along the way including wild grapes, columbine and others. To learn more about Zion Canyon go to: Zion National Park
- 3:00-4:00 After leaving Zion, well give you an hour to explore Springdale, which has some very interesting shops (especially rock shops), a fantasic photography gallery (with some of the most amazing photos youll ever see) and some other interesting places to visit.

- 6:00 6:30 Hotel pickup and travel to Tuacahn.
- 6:30-11:00 Dinner, pre-show and play (Les Miserables) at Tuacahns Broadway in the Desert theator. This is an outdoor theator set against a backdrop of red rocks. They do amazing broadway-quality productions. Tickets to the dinner and show are included in the price. This is an absolutely amazing musical play based on the novel by the French writer Victor Hugo. It is an incredible examination of the nature of mercy and forgiveness, justice and judgment and the human condition. If you've never seen it, I promise you'll love it. (Just be sure to bring a handkerchef because I guarantee that there are parts that will move you to tears.)
To Learn More About the Play (and Tuacahn) check out: Les Miserables

Advanced Muscle Testing for Herbalists
August 19-20, 2008 in Washington, DC
Hi, I'm Steven Horne, and I've personally found muscle testing (also known as applied kinesiology) to be a one of the most valuable tools for helping people achieve better health that I've ever discovered. However, I've also observed that it is a tool that is easily subject to abuse.
That's because muscle testing isn't some magic technique that works in a vacumn. Successfully using muscle testing requires both knowledge of the body and knowledge of healing modalities. It also requires some degree of objectivity and skill.
That's why I was very pleased to learn that my good friend and fellow professional member of the American Herbalists Guild, K.P. Khalsa is one of the foremost practioners of applied kinesiology in the country. He is a professional member of the Energy Kinesiology Association and has the most comprehensive training program in muscle testing I have ever seen. It is known as Kineseonics.
So, I'm teaming up with K.P. before NSP's Conference in Washington, D.C. to provide you with two of days of powerful training in Kineseonics. Here's what K.P. has to say about his Kineseonics program:
The human body's processes are largely hidden from view. Most of us are hardly aware of the functions that our bodies continually perform; we give them no conscious thought until some discomfort attracts our attention. Yet it is the normal functioning that is truly magnificent. Who can comprehend the ways by which each body maintains a constant temperature of 98.6 when moving from a warm room into a very cold winter's day? Who knows all the processes that are initiated when we sit down to a meal? When we wake from a night's sleep, hundreds of other changes take place that we don't perceive. Yet, we easily do far more than this every day of our lives. A hidden wisdom functions within us. We can call this body-wisdom.
Kinesionics is a comprehensive system of health care that allows the wisdom of each body to speak for itself. It uses muscle testing to provide access to body-wisdom's assessments. A muscle test amplifies minute instant fluctuations in the nervous system's energy, reflecting body-wisdom's response to any sample input or environmental condition.
To those already familiar with muscle testing, Kinesionics will provide a new set of resources for exploring the mystery of the human being. Those unacquainted with muscle testing, who are eager to learn more about improving their own health, will, with practice, also benefit.
Kineseonics Can Determine What Your Body Really Requires
Kinesionics enlists body-wisdom to identify an individual's current health needs and to find effective therapies. We can address physical, emotional and mental aspects. Effective therapies can be found and confidently applied to imbalances ranging all the way from obvious chronic pains to factors that may develop into chronic disorders in twenty years.
Those responses take into account all the factors that make each of us, at each moment, unique. We are not only different from each other, but different from ourselves yesterday, or last year. The interaction of body chemistry, structural function, effects of heredity, and habits of thought and exercise, is continually shifting. At any given time, our needs may vary radically from the statistical averages that most health practitioners have had to use.
Kineseonics Can Help Determine Appropriate Safe Dosages
For example, How much of a given herb do I need right now? is a frequent question. Rather than simply relying on what common usage suggests for dosage amounts, Kinesionics allows your body to determine how much it can currently use to good effect. The number of herbal capsules that can be taken with no adverse side effects ranges from thirty times greater to ten times smaller than the traditional safe dose.
Muscle testing is the simplest and most direct method for connecting the conscious mind with the body's wisdom. It gives accurate, repeatable results, to the extent that variables affecting it are recognized and dealt with as needed. Kinesionics, in particular, provides ways to determine that your body-wisdom is prepared to give accurate information, and that none of the body systems will interfere with this accuracy.
What Kinesionics Can Do for You and Your Clients
- Choose immediately between several brands that all sound good on the label
- Chose between several forms of a nutrient.
- Determine the effect of a nutrient on the rest of the body.
- Avoid side effects and negative reactions.
- Maximize and individualize doses.
- Make sense out of the bewildering array of nutritional choicesimmediately.
- Find imbalances beforeoften years before they become symptoms.
K.P. Khalsa is a Great Teacher
Steven Horne, again. As those of you who participated in our Secrets of Chinese Herbs Class two years ago know, K.P. Khalsa is a great teacher, down-to-earth, easy-to-understand and loaded with a wealth of clinical knowledge and practical experience. I'll there to help those who are new to muscle testing master what he will be teaching. I'm sure those of you who are already experienced with muscle testing, like me, will pick up some great advanced techniques.
Here is what others have to say about K.P.'s KINESIONICS Program.
KINESIONICS is a method that has allowed me to tap that universal knowledge that aids in improving the health of patients.
This work represents some of the most encompassing and accurate in the field
.
KINESIONICS presents a unified field approach
that allows the practitioner to tune into the needs of the clients in a very specific and pragmatic manner
, and demonstrated a new level of accuracy and the specificity in assessing effects of my music on muscles, organs . . . .

Khalsa's system of KINESIONICS makes order of what was formerly a wilderness of seemingly conflicting health care and human potential.
A woman told me she had begun having pain that suggested acid indigestion, or the onset of an ulcer. Through KINESIONICS a remedy was suggested for supplementation with liquid apple cider vinegar. All symptoms disappeared immediately once the apple cider vinegar supplementation began, and only returned if she failed to take the supplement.
