People in our society have become obsessed with looking good. This is particularly affecting teenage girls. A false ideal of feminine beauty is continuously held before us in the media. The demands of TV and photography (everyone looks wider on camera) have made an excessively skinny body image the ideal. Yet many of the models who attain this ideal do so by starving themselves and exercising obsessively, often causing damage to their health in the process.
